I saw this and smiled when I saw Pluto and its mixed status. Spoiler alert— now, while Mars is the most popular, Pluto remains on the list. As children, we were intrigued by it. Then, they told us it wasn’t a planet. We didn’t care. We are the generation that kept Pluto. You can take Pluto off the list but can’t take it from our hearts.
I was laughing this week while listening to Theo Von who was taking about seeing recordings from shows and movies from the 90s. It always looks so bad quality but he brought up the good point that when we watched it then, it was clear to us then. He is right. It’s not high def like today’s stuff, but it was clear to us then. His guest Fahim Anwar suggested that maybe the broadcast was better, and it doesn’t translate to the recording technology. Whatever it is— it’s weird to look back and see such weird quality to something that felt so clear.
Ahhh the 90s, when TV was clearer than it is now, it feels, and Pluto reigned.
