To hold a letter

By: Gabriela Yareliz

I like writing letters and leaving them for my mom. I don’t think people today realize how meaningful it is to receive or write a letter. To have a piece of that person that you can keep, smell, read, over and over again…It is gorgeous. Handwriting conveys so much more than a perfected typography. Letters convey emotion, love and hope for perhaps something good in the future.

Sometimes, you will read it a second time and catch a joke, a little drawing, a subtle suggestion. You usually write to someone you have a relationship with or want to have a relationship with.

It reminds me of the ultimate letter we have, the Bible. Scripture is a letter from God. It has advice, stories, and lots of love. It is there for us to gain something different from it each time. We are to keep it, guard it, memorize it and make it a lamp.

A letter–an ultimate expression of love.
