Autumn Thoughts

Below are some picks from http://autumnindie.tumblr.com. A very quotable blog.

“She asked, ‘You are in love, what does love look like?’ To which I replied, ‘Like everything I’ve ever lost came back to me.’” Nayyirah Waheed

“Compassion hurts. When you feel connected to everything, you also feel responsible for everything. And you cannot turn away. Your destiny is bound with the destinies of others. You must either learn to carry the universe or be crushed by it. You must grow strong enough to love the world, yet empty enough to sit down at the same table with its worst horrors.” Andrew Boyd

“Marry your best friend. I do not say that lightly. Really, truly find the strongest, happiest friendship in the person you fall in love with. Someone who speaks highly of you. Someone you can laugh with. The kind of laughs that make your belly ache, and your nose snort. The embarrassing, earnest, healing kind of laughs. Wit is important. Life is too short not to love someone who lets you be a fool with them. Make sure they are somebody who lets you cry, too. Despair will come. Find someone that you want to be there with you through those times. Most importantly, marry the one that makes passion, love, and madness combine and course through you. A love that will never dilute – even when the waters get deep, and dark.” (via rainydaysandblankets)

“The whole world is a series of miracles, but we’re so used to them we call them ordinary things.” Hans Christian Andersen

“‘If the girl had been worth having she’d have waited for you.’ No, sir, the girl really worth having won’t wait for anybody.” F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise (via simply-quotes)

Memory’s Hall

By: Ellen G. White

God is not pleased to have His people hanging dark and painful pictures in memory’s hall. He would have every soul plucking the roses and the lilies and the pinks, hanging memory’s hall with the precious promises of God blooming all over the garden of God. He would have us dwelling upon them, our senses sharp and clear, taking them in their full richness, talking of the joy that is set before us. He would have us living in the world, yet not of it, our affections taking hold of eternal things. He would have us talking of the things which He has prepared for those that love Him. This will attract our minds, awaken our hopes and expectations, and strengthen our souls to endure the conflicts and trials of this life. As we dwell on these scenes the Lord will encourage our faith and confidence. He will draw aside the veil and give us glimpses of the saints’ inheritance.—Ms 24, 1888 quoted in Selected Messages 3:163, 164. – {Hvn 174.3}

This Week’s Picks: September 15, 2013/ To a bold autumn!

By: Gabriela Yareliz

Another week begins. Each week, each day, each hour, brings its own trials and hurdles, but also its beauty. It is cooler now, the leaves will soon begin to turn. I know that technically fall doesn’t start until the twenty-something of Sept., but I say it starts now. It doesn’t last long. The leaves turn and fall in like a week’s time. It’s a blur. So let’s take it in now, let’s take it slow, and adore it.

“The happiness of heaven will be found by conforming to the will of God, and if men become members of the royal family in heaven, it will be because heaven has begun with them on earth…”– {Hvn 171.3} Ellen G. White

“Prayer is the life of the soul; it is feeding on Christ; it is turning our faces fully toward the Sun of Righteousness. As we turn our faces toward Him, He turns His face toward us. He longs to give us divine grace; and as we draw nigh to God with full assurance of faith, our spiritual conceptions are quickened. We do not then walk in blindness, bemoaning our spiritual barrenness; for by diligent, prayerful searching of the Word of God, we apply His rich promises unto our souls. Angels draw close to our side, and the enemy with his manifold devices is driven back.”—The Signs of the Times, July 31, 1893. – {Hvn 171.5} Ellen G. White

5] This made me laugh: Moms are always trying to make sure everything is taken care of for us…

7] “I’m a leaf that’s gone falling free…and you can’t see the spring until you’re like the leaves, here on the autumn ground.” Ben Rector (He is a new favorite)

Selections from the book: Heaven

By: Ellen G. White

Let our faith pierce through every cloud of darkness and behold Him who died for the sins of the world…Let this hope gladden our hearts. “Yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry.” Hebrews 10:37. Blessed are those servants who, when their Lord comes, shall be found watching. – {Hvn 160.2}

It will not be long till we shall see Him in whom our hopes of eternal life are centered. And in His presence, all the trials and sufferings of this life will be as nothingness. “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry.” Verses 35-37. – {Hvn 161.1}

Look up, look up, and let your faith continually increase. Let this faith guide you along the narrow path that leads through the gates of the city of God into the great beyond, the wide, unbounded future of glory that is for the redeemed. “Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.” James 5:7, 8.—Testimonies for the Church 9:286-288. – {Hvn 161.2}

He who receives Christ by living faith has a living connection with God…. He carries with him the atmosphere of heaven, which is the grace of God, a treasure that the world cannot buy. – {Hvn 170.4}

Keep Your Eyes on the Prize

“Eyes On The Prize”-Sara Groves

Paul and Silas bound in jail
Got no money for to go their bail
Keep your eyes on the prize, hold on

Paul and Silas thought they were lost
The dungeon shook and the chains fell off
Keep your eyes on the prize, hold on

Freedom’s name is mighty sweet
And one day soon we are gonna meet
Keep your eyes on the prize, hold on

I got my hand on the gospel plow
Won’t take nothing for my journey now
Keep your eyes on the prize, hold on

The wait is slow, and we’ve so far to go
Keep your eyes on the prize, hold on

The wait is slow, and we’ve so far to go
Keep your eyes on the prize, hold on

Only chain a man can stand
Is that chain of hand on hand
Keep your eyes on the prize, hold on

Ain’t no man on earth control
The weight of glory on a human soul.
Keep your eyes on the prize, hold on.

The wait is slow, and we’ve so far to go
Keep your eyes on the prize, hold on

The wait is slow, and we’ve so far to go
Keep your eyes on the prize [x3]

When you see a man walk free,
It makes you dream of jubilee.

When you see a child walk free,
It makes you dream of jubilee.

When you see a family free,
It makes you dream of jubilee.

Keep your eyes on the prize, hold on.

Be Still and Know

“Seek you the LORD while he may be found, call you upon him while he is near:” Isaiah 55:6

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
