New week! New start! This week has got to be better than last week; it can only go up from there. I hope that regardless of how your last week went, you are equally hopeful.
It rained all last night and drizzled this morning. The terrace outside was a bit inundated with water, and the reflection of the water shimmered on my ceiling all morning. So pretty. All this rain gave me UK vibes, so I listened to a lot of The Proclaimers and The Police today. Classics. Drowsy, Dickensian day.
Yesterday, while out for a stroll with amigas, I noticed the world is full of red hearts. Love is being celebrated. I think that technically every holiday reflects some kind of love being celebrated. It’s what makes our world go ’round. It’s what never fails.
I wish someone could have taken a photo of us. Three petite women’s silhouettes standing in front of an elaborate display. The display was grand, impossible to ignore and overpowering. That is what Love is. Grand. Impossible to ignore. Overpowering.
This week, let’s reflect on Love, not the weird, selfish, idolatrous, limping counterfeit we are fed, but the real deal. The one with the capital L.
xoxo.
“I love people that read. I think it screams humility. When someone reads, they are essentially admitting they want more, that the world is not enough for them. They want more knowledge, more experience. Whatever this life is, they want more of it.”
“Forgive yourself for not knowing what you didn’t know before you learned it.” Maya Angelou
“To open ourselves up to someone we love, showing who we are and the world that is within us; it’s hard and scary. When we are seen, fully and truly, and we are not only accepted but celebrated. Then we have found our home.”
T.B. LaBerge
“For no word from God will ever fail.” Luke 1:37
“Love is not just tolerance. It’s not just distant appreciation. It’s a warm sense of, ‘I am enjoying the fact that you are you.’”
N.T. Wright
“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists… it is real… it is possible… it’s yours.”
Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
“I know that being good always pays off. Being wholehearted and transparent always wins.” Cirino
“Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away.”
Dinah Maria Mulock Craik, A Life for a Life
“Find someone who isn’t afraid to admit that they miss you.” Unknown
