“If I were asked to give what I consider the single most useful bit of advice for all humanity it would be this: Expect trouble as an inevitable part of life, and when it comes, hold your head high, look it squarely in the eye and say, ‘I will be bigger than you. You cannot defeat me.'” Ann Landers
Walk with me through Central Park

By: Gabriela Yareliz
First things first, the quality of the photos is not the best. They came from my phone. Later, I will post some better ones I took with my camera, but my camera decided to pass out mid-walk, hence the phone photos. But it will give you an idea of the beautiful autumn morning I spent walking through the park. Fifty degrees, sunshine, and the park is bustling with preparation for the NY Marathon. My hair smells like falafel carts.

Clear blue skies! Stay with us a little longer.

By the Poland statue there were some colorful trees.

Turtle Pond–something like that. So pretty.

Walking through The Ramble is so lovely. It’s a peaceful walk. I recommend you walk it with company. It’s a solitary little hike, and it merits someone appreciating the beauty with you.

The famous skyline.

One of these days, I will be in one of those boats. Hahaha.

The Bow Bridge was lovely. There was a man playing his guitar there.

🙂

More boats.

Yes, I did. The American Girl Place 🙂 Looooove.

The NY Public Library by Bryant Park was blooming despite impending cold weather.

2] How to stay warm now that it is freezing (wink)
By: Gabriela Yareliz (me)

1] Tights/leggings (the very hated elements of winter that help)
2] Laugh
3] Gloves that are not knit; that have no holes where the cold seeps in
4] Grow your hair long and wrap it around your neck
5] Scarves you wrap around your head, so you look like babushka
6] Type with your laptop on your lap–Kidding (I am pretty sure that is not healthy)
7] Drink Roma or tea. In fact, you don’t even have to drink it, just holding the warmth makes you happy.
8] Walk over the vents with warm air and steaming street holes (could end up being a tort for the city)
9] Flannel, wool, layers. You don’t have to limit yourself to one outfit, you can wear five–at the same time!
10] Some man at a laundry mat told me you shouldn’t make your body stiff because that supposedly makes you colder because it restricts blood flow (whatever–may be true, but he made it to number ten).
3] Paris holds the key to your heart

4] Zarka (Leila Bekhti, Paris, Je t’aime) speaks the truth.

6]
8] New Fab blogger: Garance Dore.
A great post: http://www.garancedore.fr/en/2013/09/10/au-naturel/
9] Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas workin’ things out!
(Big smile). I like them together.
10]
“Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.”

New stuff: Fifth Harmony: Leave my heart out of this
13] Anyone remember How to Deal?
Aslyn: That’s When I Love You
When you have to look away
When you don’t have much to say
That’s when I love you
I love u, just that way
To hear you stumble when you speak
Or see you walk with two left feet
That’s when I love you
I love you endlessly
And when you’re mad ’cause you lost a game
Forget I’m waiting in the rain
Baby, I’ll love you
I’ll love you anyway
‘Cause here’s my promise made tonight
You can count on me for life
‘Cause that’s when I love you
When nothing you do can change my mind
The more I learn, the more I love
The more my heart can’t get enough
That’s when I love you
When I love you
No matter what
So when you turn to hide your eyes
‘Cause the movie- it made you cry
That’s when I love you
I love you
A little more each time
And when you can’t quite match your clothes
Or when you laugh at your own jokes
that’s when I love you, I love you
More then you’ll know
And when you forgot that we had a date
Or that look that you give when you show up late
Baby, I’ll love you
I’ll love you anyway
So here’s my promise made tonight
You can count on me for life
‘Cause that’s when I love you
When nothing you do can change my mind
The more I learn, the more I love
The more my heart cant get enough
That’s when I love you
When I love you
No matter what
Ohh that’s when I love you when nothing baby, nothing you do could change my mind
The more I learn, the more I love, the more my heart can’t get enough
That’s when I love you, when I love you no matter what
Ohhhh no matter what
Baby, it’s cold outside…
By: Gabriela Yareliz
Oooh baby; it’s cold outside. Like, so cold it should be illegal (exaggeration due to initial shock). I have no idea how the temperature dropped so many degrees in a day. So much, that the building turned on the heater. Miracle. Last year, management waited until November. Bundle up! The man by the subway needs to change his sale tactic, because no one wants cold water anymore. Everyone wants something warm in their tummy, and they want to capture that cinnamon smell in the Whole Foods entrance. I ironed my sweaters that had been folded and slightly wrinkly (if they are wrinkly, I won’t wear them; and now I need them). Good-bye autumn, and hello icy wind from Narnia.
Compassion
“A lot of us think we are compassionate because we get emotional when we watch a sad video or someone tells us a sad story, but compassion is never compassion until you are willing to cross the street to be inconvenienced or interrupted yourself.” Christine Caine on Chris Fabry Live!
Real Adventure
Real adventure is defined best as a journey from which you may not come back alive, and certainly not as the same person

Quotes
People don’t like love, they like that flittery flirty feeling. They don’t love love – love is sacrificial, love is ferocious, it’s not emotive. Our culture doesn’t love love, it loves the idea of love. It wants the emotion without paying anything for it. It’s ridiculous.
Matt Chandler
Decide that you want it more than you are afraid of it.
Bill Cosby
We all know at least one horrifically miserable person who changed into someone else’s Perfect Spouse, instead of marrying someone who loved everything about them. Maybe this was one of your parents. Don’t let this screw with your head. Your life will always be yours, and a good man will understand and love that. Sure, your life will change, and you’ll have someone to share it with now – but it will always be yours. IT’S FREAKING AWESOME. EVEN IF/ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU SHARE. Again, if you’re in love with a guy who wants you to “give up your life for him,” he’s got it all wrong. Send him away. POOF. Poofity-poof.
Lauren Dubinsky
It’s a most distressing affliction to have a sentimental heart and a skeptical mind.
Nagulb Mahfouz
Nothing can wear you out like caring about people.
S.E. Hinton
Write beautifully what people don’t want to hear.
Fredrick Seidel
Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.

Self-denial
From Ellen G. White’s Testimonies for the Church, vol. 1.
Chapter 30, The Rich Young Ruler
“I was shown that the young, especially young men, who profess the truth, have yet a lesson of self-denial to learn. If these made more sacrifice for the truth, they would esteem it more highly. It would affect their hearts, and purify their lives, and they would hold it more dear and sacred.” – {1T 177.2}
